Can we use MAX-DIFF utilities for developing classification tool for segment solution?

We have developed segement solution using max-diff utilities. Following that we need to develop classification tool. Can we use the SAME to develop. How reliable function will be?
In future do we need to collect data by max-diff only.

Can you suggest some alternative in case to avoid max-diff based FUNCTION?
