Eva Bortolotti

Eva is a Master’s candidate in Development Studies at The Graduate Institute, Geneva. She is passionate about development issues and believes in the importance redirecting mainstream financial flows for the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Eva is also a consultant at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) office in Geneva and has been working as a Research Assistant for the Centre of International Environmental Studies of the Graduate Institute.

Due to her particular interest in sustainable finance and green growth, her Master dissertation will underline the importance of cooperation between the financial and public sectors to address the challenges of increasing greenhouse gas emissions. In Europe, the current investment gap estimated to reach the 2030 climate and energy targets accounts for €260 billion per year, with $21 billion annually only for the transport sector. Public policy design has a central role in the mobilization of private funds, however, only a few studies until now have analyzed how policies may influence the individual decision-making of investors. Her dissertation will aim to explore which are the most effective combinations of policy instruments and policy attributes that may attract investments in electric mobility projects in the European context. The research question will be investigated by collecting primary data from European investors through a survey using adaptive conjoint analysis, in order to elicit investors’ policy preferences and produce concrete policy recommendations.
