Davide Burkhart

Davide Burkhart is a PhD student at the University of Mannheim in Germany. His research interests lie in enhancing supply chain transparency as well as managing buyer-supplier relationships. Prior to his current studies, he obtained a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (M.Sc.) from the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he focused his studies on innovation management, production, and supply chain management. Additionally, Davide gained international experience during a stay at the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) in Buenos Aires and during a research internship at the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

The recent and ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has shown again that companies lack visibility not only over their full supply chain but in some cases even with their direct suppliers. Therefore, Davide wants to investigate the value of several different types of transparency (e.g. cost transparency, operational transparency, and supply chain transparency) in the supplier selection process. After having conducted multiple interviews, he wants to design and conduct a discrete-choice experiment (CBC) to estimate the buyer’s willingness-to-pay for different types of supplier transparency.
