Multiple Choice Question with Quotas

Hello !

How to create a quota from a multiple choice question ?
Q1 is a multiple choice question and RQ1 is my quota.
I would like to avoid having as many quota questions as I have a choice ;-)
(55 choices in my Q1)

Thanks !
Best,
S

The quota control questions in Sawtooth Software cater very nicely for single response questions. They have nice features like least fill, sequential and randomised allocation.

But when it comes to multiple response allocation, I don't see an alternative to setting up a quota question for every choice (as you mentioned).

I'm making comment here for now, but happy to hear what others have to say.

Like you, I would love to see a multiple response quota question incorporated.

Let's see what other comments knock on our door.
Just confirming, it sounds like you want someone to potentially be able to qualify for 55 different quotas and use that in your survey?  It's true our quotas don't work that way, but perhaps you could provide a little more information on what you want to do and how you plan on using the quota assignments for the rest of the survey?
Thank you for your quick responses.

I have three different questions concerning transport lines. Next I have a quota which groups all the lines with objectives for each line. But impossible to increment a quota from a multiple question.

Is a javascript or perl solution with a freeformat question possible?

Best,
S
Do you need to apply quotas to each of the 55 choices? Or do you only need to apply skip logic based on them?

And just gaining some clarity here, you say you now have 3 separate questions that total to the 55 choices?
My quota question is constructed from several multiple answers questions . I confirm that i need to apply quotas to each of the 55 choices.

Multiple choice questions store their answers as QuestionName_# where # is the answer number, and then a 0 is the value saved if the box is unchecked and a 1 is the value saved if the box is checked.  So, if you wanted to check if a respondent checked the first box in S8 (1.    Métro) the quota logic would be S8_1=1.

But, as previously mentioned, we don't have the capability for you to have one quota with 55 cells and allow a respondent to qualify for more than one cell.  You can upvote this feature request at https://sawtoothsoftware.helprace.com/i111-multi-select-quota

If you need to separately count how many of the 55 quotas a respondent qualifies for, then you will need to do 55 quotas where cell 1 is the actual logic (S8_1=1) and then cell 2 could be set to "always qualify" with a very large limit (9999) so that the quotas do not disqualify people. Sorry about that.  You might be able to save some time by setting up the first quota, then copying and pasting it in the software, or by making the logic in Excel by concatenating each part and then copying and pasting into Lighthouse.
Even if you could setup all 55 quota cells in one question, you still have to set them all up. The current method is to set them up in 55 different quota questions.

So either way, it is a bit of an effort required.

As mentioned earlier, I'd love to see the multiple response quota allocation in the future.
Yep, you can copy and paste quota cells or import from a CSV file now (set up cells and then concatenate them to make 55 rows easier), but I'd like to see multi-choice quotas as well.  Go upvote it on the feedback site if you haven't :)
Brian, I certainly upvoted sometime ago. Well worth including in the software down the track. Onya mate.
