2021 Sawtooth Software Conference: Call for Presentations & Papers

Last updated: 14 Oct 2020

Conf2021 Callforpapers

The 2021 Sawtooth Software Conference will be held April 22-23, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. We contracted with the hotel 18 months ago and need to hold to these dates.

We're looking to increase diversity in the program in terms of demographics, industries, and new perspectives. Even if you’ve never presented at a conference before, we welcome your proposal! If you know of great speakers in underrepresented groups, please let us know and we'll reach out to invite them to submit.

What’s new for 2021? Two days of conference papers instead of the usual 2.5 days, and the popular Turbo CBC event will be held in the two days leading up to the conference (April 20-21) at the same venue.

Although we prefer that you deliver your 25-30 minute paper in person, you may deliver your presentation remotely. You can pre-record your presentation and be brought in virtually after your presentation for audience Q&A. Written papers for the Proceedings are still required, even if you do not attend the conference in person.

Presenters receive a complimentary conference registration (one per presentation). If you'd like to be on the program:

  • Please respond promptly (by November 13, email: bryan@sawtoothsoftware.com) with a one or two-page abstract describing your proposed presentation/paper, with special attention to the findings and what the audience will "take away" from the presentation.
  • Include a 75-word description of your presentation for the conference brochure, plus a headshot for you and any co-authors.
  • You must agree to be video-taped, for distribution to attendees who later subscribe to the conference content.
  • You must agree to deliver a written version of your paper for publication in the 2021 Sawtooth Software Conference Proceedings (due shortly after the conference is held).

We are interested in papers on a variety of subjects, including general web/mobile interviewing issues, market segmentation, scale development, customer satisfaction modeling, conjoint/menu/choice analysis, MaxDiff (best-worst scaling), perceptual mapping, hierarchical Bayes methods, forecasting, pricing research, market simulations, text analytics, social media analytics, and case studies. These papers need not involve Sawtooth Software's programs or approach. No proprietary or patented methods are permitted.

If your abstract is accepted, a member of the steering committee will review early drafts of your presentation and offer suggestions. Authors are expected to consider these suggestions conscientiously and rework their presentations as needed. Sawtooth Software reserves the right to remove any author from the program or proceedings that fails to meet deadlines or produce high quality work.
