Phuong Khuong

Phuong Minh Khuong is a PhD student in Energy Economics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. She has an MBA degree and a Bachelor of Energy Management, which she obtained in her home country of Vietnam.

Her passion for sustainability and environmentally friendly future motivates her to study on promoting decentralized solar PV as part of her dissertation. While solar rooftop PV are developing dramatically elsewhere, there are significant barriers that are blocking major potentials in solar rooftop PV across the developing countries. Her research aims to analyze public acceptance and willingness to pay for rooftop PV in Vietnam under the current policy and regulation. Choice-Based Conjoint Analyses will be conducted to reveal the attributes which are influencing customer purchases. The experiment will be developed to investigate how different demographic groups choose rooftop PV products with different quality, investment cost, manufacturer and ease of use. Understanding the customer decisions will allow policymakers and stakeholders to better predict adoption rate in different cities in Vietnam. The results will be used to improve regulatory situation, future policy and regulatory actions to speed up the adoption rate of rooftop PV in Vietnam for household customers.

She plans to conduct the survey in the biggest cities in Vietnam such us Hanoi, Hochiminh and Danang to understand people attitude and purchase behavior across a range of different demographic conditions.
