Aaron Cheng is a hematology fellow at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his medical degree at Harvard Medical School and trained in medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital prior to his fellowship. He is simultaneously completing a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania. His primary clinical and research interests lie in the management of patients with hemoglobin disorders (e.g., thalassemia and sickle cell disease), including the implementation of novel therapeutics like gene therapy. His research will use principles of conjoint analysis to describe how patients with thalassemia weigh the complex risks and benefits of gene therapy, which will ultimately inform the development of clinical decision aids to facilitate shared decision-making.
