Anouk Wijnands

Anouk Wijnands is a PhD candidate in the gastroenterology and hepatology department at the University Medical Center Utrecht (the Netherlands). Her research is focused on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. Patients with IBD are at an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) and are therefore enrolled in surveillance endoscopy programs. The main focus of her PhD project is to develop a new prediction model, which enables improved individualized decision making with respect to surveillance strategy. An important aspect of this project is identifying the patients’ preferences regarding surveillance, employing a discrete choice experiment (DCE). This project is a collaboration of two University Medical Centers and one large general hospital in the Netherlands.
