Bram Uyttenhove

Bram Uyttenhove is a PhD researcher affiliated to the department of Communication Sciences at Ghent University. His research focuses on how parents deal with unhealthy food marketing on snack packages when making choices for their children, and how parents can be aided in better identifying what’s healthy and what’s not.
Bram uses a choice-based conjoint analysis to examine which packaging attributes most influence parents when choosing unhealthy snacks. He also investigates how misleading packaging elements shape parents’ perceptions as consumers, and whether stricter packaging policies help them better identify a snack’s true nutritional profile. The goal of Bram’s research is to gain insights into how parents perceive packaging elements, identify opportunities for interventions that strengthen their ability to resist misleading on-package marketing, and provide recommendations for policymakers to promote more transparent food marketing practices.
