Callie Millward is a PhD student in Nutritional Science attending The Pennsylvania State University. She is driven a deep interest in the intersection of evidence-based nutrition, strategic communication, and public health. Her academic and professional journey is rooted in the belief that how we communicate about nutrition is just as important as the science itself—especially when working with underserved and vulnerable populations. Her dissertation research focuses on exploring the potential of targeted nutritional marketing techniques on adolescents engaging in social media. She has prior experience using conjoint analysis to study adolescent preferences of thumbnails for public health messaging videos.
Callie is currently developing a three part study to understand adolescent perception of energy drink marketing and messaging when compared to dairy beverage marketing and messaging. She will utilize MaxDiff analysis, choice-based conjoint analysis, as well as adaptive conjoint analysis in this research. Through this work, Callie will work with a multidisciplinary team of academic researchers in the fields of nutritional science, marketing, communications, and food science. This project will help advance her long-term goal of bridging the gap between research and real-world behavior change. Her goal is to contribute to initiatives that make nutrition accessible, relatable, and actionable.
