Christian Kromer

Dr. Christian Kromer, MD, MSc is a resident in dermatology in his 5th year at the University Medical Center Göttingen, Germany. He studied medicine and health economics (MSc) at the Medical Faculty Mannheim of the University of Heidelberg, Germany. His research focuses on patient-reported outcomes and real-life data in chronic inflammatory dermatoses. In previous projects, he investigated patient preferences for the treatment of psoriasis with choice-based conjoint analysis.

As part of his postdoctoral lecture qualification, Christian wants to identify patient preferences for systemic treatment options for atopic dermatitis, including conventional agents, biologics, and small molecules (janus kinase inhibitors), by using discrete choice experiments. Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease associated with itching skin lesions, allergies, physical impairment, and mental stress. The advent of innovative, highly effective systemic therapies has recently revolutionized treatment, and the therapeutic armamentarium is expected to further increase substantially within the next few years. Christian aims to better understand patients' individual preferences, needs, and concerns regarding these treatments, issues that need to be integrated into shared decision-making in order to improve patient satisfaction, adherence, and ultimately treatment outcome.
