Penz, Frederic

Frederic Penz is a Ph.D. student in Sustainability Management and Economics with a focus on Social Business and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development (ESD) at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Business Psychology and a Master's degree in Strategy and International Management he focuses his research on how ESD can scale its social impact and contribute to sustainability transitions.

In his cumulative Ph.D. thesis, he analyses ESD from different perspectives and aims to identify patterns and mechanisms through which ESD (can) contribute(s) to solving societal problems and societal change. With the help of Sawtooth software, he addresses the need of social businesses to generate funding and investigates how environmentally-oriented crowdlending campaigns need to be framed in order to receive pledges.
