Helen Martin

Helen Martin is a PhD candidate and President of the Graduate Student Association of Psychiatry at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Using multi-methods, she is currently investigating multiple stakeholders’ preferences for involving family caregivers in early intervention services for psychosis across Canada under the supervision of Dr. Srividya Iyer.

Helen completed a master's in social work specializing in medical and psychiatry at Madras Christian College, India. Prior to joining PhD, she worked as a case manager and research assistant at a WHO collaborating center for mental health research and training, SCARF (India) in Chennai, South India.

Her research interests span from evidence-based mental health to education. She has expertise in working with multiple stakeholders, creating and designing teaching materials for university-level education as well as a trained pedagogist.

With the help of Sawtooth software, she addresses the need for understanding family involvement preferences using multiple stakeholders' lens for actively engaging caregivers in routine care. The results (i.e., decision-making dynamics) will promote dialogue and propose recommendations for fostering family-centered early intervention services for psychosis on a national scale.
