Hermela Gebretsion is currently conducting research at the Institute of Industrial Management and Industrial Production within Karlsruhe’s Institute of Technology in Germany, while also pursuing her bachelor's in computer engineering at the University of Waterloo. Hermela’s research focuses on energy economics and is driven by her interests in sustainability and renewable energy adoption.
By employing the method of conjoint analysis, Hermela’s research aims to understand how people make tradeoffs when choosing between electricity provider options and explores the socio-economic factors that may also play a role in these choices. As Germany transitions towards a more low-carbon economy, her work provides insights that can aid in future marketing and incentivization strategies of renewable energy options to consumers.
