Jakob Tribula

Jakob Tribula is a PhD Researcher in the Department of Finance, Accounting and Risk at Glasgow Caledonian University. His research focusses on consumer's decision-making processes in the context of buying, or more often not buying, catastrophe insurance, and specifically flood insurance. The study aims to, one, investigate the influence of various policy attributes on consumers' Willingness to Pay for an insurance contract, and, two, the influence a parameterization of the insurance contract would have on people's Willingness to Pay. The Choice-Based Conjoint Experiment that is used for this study is set up, hosted, and analyzed with Sawtooth Software.

Jakob holds a BEng in Rescue Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Cologne, which saw him working in ambulance and fire services in Germany as well as working as a fire prevention engineer for a large German automotive supplier. Before starting his PhD journey, he gained an MSc in Risk Management from Glasgow Caledonian University to gain a more holistic view of risk and move from fire risk to general risk in an insurance setting.
