Jana Cordes

Jana Cordes is a PhD candidate at the University of Hamburg in Germany. Her research focuses on job attraction in multi-incentive settings, the role of employment attributes and corporate characteristics regarding the decision making processes of job seekers.

Within her research project, she wants to examine how job seekers form intentions to accept a job offer in multi-incentive settings. Using a realistic approach of trade-off tasks in an experimental Adaptive Choice-Based Conjoint (ACBC) methodology with job seekers in Germany and Thailand, she focuses on perceptions regarding a range of employment attributes (i.e. contract, salary, job impact) job seekers consider when deciding between numerous job offers. Specifically, she compares job offers from different sectors (public, nonprofit and private sector) to examine job seekers' preferences. The ACBC's design incorporates the well-established theory that applicants make complex choices by forming a consideration set (using cut-off rules) and then choosing a preferred job within this consideration set.
