Julia Schubert

Julia Schubert is a Ph.D. student in Economics with a focus on Public Finance at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Business Psychology and a Master's degree in International Economics and Governance she focuses her research on the econometric analysis of social security systems.

In her Ph.D. thesis, she examines individual preferences for different reform options of the German social long-term care insurance (LTCI). Mainly due to demographic change the social LTCI system will be faced with strongly increasing costs and declining revenues in the next decades. Set up as a partial-service insurance increasing costs will cause increasing co-payments. With the help of a Discrete-Choice-Experiment, she will analyze different reform options with a focus on the limitation of co-payments. As a result, she will derive implications for policymakers on how to reform financing of social LTCI in accordance with citizen preferences.
