Julie Tranholm-Mikkelsen is currently writing her Master's thesis in Political Science at the University of Copenhagen, where she likewise obtained her bachelor's degree. Next to her studies, Julie is working part-time in a Danish think tank called Monday Morning, where she conducts qualitative and quantitative analyses within a broad range of social issues.

Throughout her Master's, Julie is completing a specialization in Political Behavior and Advanced Quantitative Methods. In her Master's thesis, she will be contributing to this field and applying her methodological skills when she seeks to answer the research question: What explains the difference in public opinion towards the deservingness of health care among COVID-19 patients? The choice-based conjoint experimental design is used to discretely measure the effect of different attributes, including vaccination choice, of hypothetical COVID-19 patients on public opinion towards the prioritization of health care. The project is motivated by a curiosity regarding whether a pandemic crisis - in which a great deal of attention has been allocated to individual health risk behavior - has left its marks on public opinion towards health care. If this is the case, it could potentially challenge the mutual solidarity and trust that are instrumental for the foundation and durability of the welfare state.
