Katelyn Tahaney

Katelyn Tahaney is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Antwerp Department of Transport and Regional Economics. Her research focuses on intermodality and the modal shift in containerized freight transport.

Katelyn’s current research uses discrete choice experiments to identify determining factors of mode choice in port-hinterland connections from the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. A better understanding of hinterland freight mode choice enables understanding of how to shift cargo away from road transport and towards rail, inland navigation, and/or short sea shipping. Further research on the most significant factors revealed by this discrete choice analysis indicate areas for future investment in the advancement of intermodal freight transport.
