Lukas Hyksy is a Ph.D. candidate at the chair of Entrepreneurial Finance at Technical University of Munich (TUM). He holds a Master of Science degree from RWTH Aachen University in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. He is also a Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group in Munich, focusing on Operations and Finance topics.
His research is focused on better understanding the investment decision criteria for Limited Partners into Private Equity funds. Specifically, his studies are trying to explore how sustainability concerns and ESG requirements can be incorporated into the investment decision or if they are relevant after all. In his broader research he is exploring how the private equity industry is incorporating ESG strategies and requirements into their investments.
Lukas' motivation is to better understand how ESG is gaining relevance in investment decisions. Ultimately driven by the fact, that private markets account for a tremendous amount of capital that needs to be allocated. With the amount of dry powder (committed money, that is yet not invested) and its right allocation, a huge impact towards a more sustainable society could be possible – but only if invested in the "right" way.
