Parnian Jahangirirad is a master's student in Computer Science at Saarland University (Universität des Saarlandes) and a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy (MPI-SP). As a research assistant at MPI-SP, she is contributing to the FINDHR project, which focuses on fairness in algorithmic hiring processes.
In the FINDHR project, she explores how technical, human, and environmental factors shape users’ trust and acceptance of fairness monitoring in algorithmic hiring. Using choice-based conjoint analysis, she identifies which aspects matter most to users when evaluating hiring algorithms. While algorithmic hiring improves efficiency, it also raises concerns about bias and transparency. Fairness monitoring addresses these issues by evaluating algorithms against legal, ethical, and technical standards. However, users' perspectives (essential for real-world acceptance) are often overlooked. This research focuses on integrating human-centered insights into fairness monitoring to ensure that hiring algorithms are not only technically robust but also trusted and socially aligned
