Werner Schrör is a Master’s student in Pharmacy at Utrecht University, where he is conducting his Master’s research on improving pharmacy operations through smarter collaboration with pharmaceutical wholesalers. His project addresses current challenges in Dutch community pharmacies, such as staff shortages, high workload, and the growing burden of non-clinical tasks.
In his research, Werner investigates how logistical and administrative support can be optimized by delegating certain responsibilities, such as order processing, call center services, and inventory logistics, to external providers. By doing so, pharmacists would be able to focus more on clinical care, reducing operational pressure and enhancing the quality of pharmaceutical services.
To support this goal, Werner is using choice-based conjoint analysis to understand which wholesaler services are most valuable to pharmacists. His findings will help shape a scalable model for collaboration between pharmacies and wholesalers, contributing to a more efficient pharmacy workflow and ultimately better patient care.
By combining his practical experience in both hospital and community pharmacy with academic research, Werner aims to bridge the gap between operational efficiency and clinical excellence in the pharmacy sector.
