Study summary

Introduction

The Study summary tab provides an overview of the data collection progress for your survey.

When a survey is created using an account with limitations on total records (such as free plans or academic plans), complete records are given priority. For instance, a free is limited to analyzing data from 50 respondents. Initially, your summary page may display a mixture of record statuses (complete, disqualified, over quota, or expired). However, Discover will prioritize complete records by replacing other statuses with complete records up to the restriction imposed by your subscription.

Finalized records chart

This chart gives a summary of all finalized records. These are respondents that have reached a survey ending (status of complete, disqualified, or over quota) or have been marked as expired and cannot reenter the survey.

Complete

A complete status is given to anyone that started your survey and finished by landing on a survey ending configured with a complete status.

Disqualified

Respondents are marked as disqualified if they started your survey and were directed to a survey ending configured with a disqualify status.

Over quota

Respondents are marked as over quota if they reach a survey ending configured with this status. Skip respondents to this ending by selecting it in the Skip over quota respondents to dropdown at the bottom of a quota.

Expired

When respondents do not finish the survey, they are marked as incomplete. To access their data in analysis and downloads, expire their record.

Total finalized records widget

This widget gives you a total count of all the records in your study. This includes any record marked as complete, expired, over quota, or disqualified. Records removed in data cleaning are not included in this count.

The widget is shown with the number of total records.

Incomplete records chart

This section displays the total number of incomplete respondents. Incomplete respondents are those that have started the survey but have not reached a survey ending. They have the option to finish the survey at a later time if they choose to do so. You can finalize these records for use in analysis by expiring them. Once expired, they will not be able to return to the survey.

Quota summaries

Quota summaries are available at the bottom of the Study summary page. They are broken into two pieces:

  1. The quota overview progress totals. The totals are calculated by summing all the quota group counts, and similarly, summing all the quota group limits.
  2. A chart reporting quota group assignments. Each row in the chart sums to 100, much like a multi-select question.
The summary for the region quota includes bar charts with some text details such as count and limit.
